Heath McKnight was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida when he was eight years old. By the time he was 13, Heath had decided he wanted to become both a Film Director and a Comic Book Writer/Aritst. During high school, Heath put aside those dreams while he played drums in various heavy metal bands. When he left high school, he wrote and pencilled his first comic, AMBUSH, inked by Denny Paquet. He then merged his company, McKnight Comics with PS Comics (run by Denny Paquet and Terry Sender) to form MPS Comics. Not much happened there while Heath went to Palm Beach Community College, majoring in Film, TV and Video. In his first year, Heath decided to write his first feature length screenplay, THE POSEIDON, using Syd Field's books in one month. By his second year, he met Grant Balfour, a musician, writer and filmmaker, who became one of Heath's long-time film partners. He graduated from PBCC in 1998 with an AS Degree in Film/TV/Video, got a job working as a tape editor for WPTV NewsChannel 5 (NBC) and formed MPS Digital Studios, without Denny (serving in the Navy) and Terry (busy in college and other projects). His first film, SKYE FALLING, began production in 1999 and opened July 30, 2001. His second and third films PUSH/PULL and A REMINDER, both shorts, opened at the 2003 and 2004 Palm Beach International Film Festivals. He has released 3 Sisters, a short film prequel to 9:04 AM, and Release Me, a short but not a prequel, at the 2005 Palm Beach International Film Festival. Both movies also screened at the 2005 Moving Image Event in Lake Worth, Florida, along with the 2005 Miami Short Film Festival and the 2005 Hollywood DV Festival. Currently, he has two movies at the world's first iPod film festival in the Indie Film category.Heath runs MPS Digital Studios, founded the Palm Beach Film Society which presents the Voices of Local Film night at the Palm Beach International Film Festival, was the lead instructor at the Palm Beach Film School, and produced and directed his second feature, 9:04 AM, which premiered at the 2007 Palm Beach International Film Festival, where he won a filmmaker award. He is also co-wrote two books on HD/HDV (HDV: What You NEED To Know, Vol. 2 and The Full HD) with award winning producer/composer, etc. Douglas Spotted Eagle for VASST, and has gone on a tour with Spot teaching HDV for VASST and Sony. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University (FAU) with Bachelors Degrees in Media and Cultural Studies (Film and Video) and Humanities. Heath recently co-produced the feature film December, and is prepping his next film, The 3 Geeks, based on the hit indie comic book by Rich Koslowski. He also writes for Digital Media Online, Inc. and Videomaker Magazine. |
